Bike to Work Scheme – Save on your E-Bike or Cargo E-Bike
The Bike to Work Scheme is a government tax incentive that lets you save a substantial amount on a new e-bike or e-cargo bike. Most employers in Ireland participate, and self-employed people can also avail of the scheme.

How it works
The Bike to Work Scheme allows your employer (or yourself if you’re self-employed) to help you to purchase a bike. You can save your highest rate of tax on €1,500 for an e-bike and on €3,000 for an e-cargo bike. You can use the scheme once every four years.
I want to buy a regular E-Bike
- Choose your e-bike from our wide range of Kreidler, Kettler or MiRider models, with advice from our expert sales team.
- We’ll provide the details your employer needs to approve the purchase.
- Your employer pays City View Wheels €1,500 towards your e-bike.
- You pay the balance.
- Your employer then deducts the €1,500 from your gross salary over 12 months (usually), saving you your full rate of tax on that amount – up to €780 in savings.
I Want to Buy a Cargo E-Bike
- Choose your e-cargo bike from our Yuba range, perfect for carrying children, shopping, or work.
- We’ll supply the paperwork and guidance for your employer.
- Your employer pays City View Wheels €3,000 towards your e-cargo bike.
- You pay the balance.
- The €3,000 is deducted from your gross salary over 12 months (usually), saving you up to €1,560 in tax.
